About Us

redprobes

Redprobes is specialised in the development of fast and user-friendly tests for the direct detection of heparins and other sulfated polysaccharides in various matrices. We aim to provide convenient and cost-effective analytical solutions to researchers in the life sciences. The company’s proprietary, patent protected technology enables the direct measurement of heparin concentrations in µg/mL, independent of the effect on the clotting cascade. Professor Roland Krämer is a founder of Redprobes. He holds a chair in Chemistry at Heidelberg University and has published extensively on the development of molecular sensors and assays for bioanalytical and diagnostic applications.

Technology

Heparin Red®

The key component of our assays is Heparin Red®, a synthetic molecular probe that changes fluorescence intensity when associating with a polyanionic heparin target. [1] Heparin Red was designed as a fluorescent probe that emits red light, in order to reduce interference by colored components and autofluorescence in biological samples. Our technology enables the direct detection of heparins and other sulfated polysaccharides by a simple mix-and-read microplate assay, independent of any anticoagulant activity.

Products

The Heparin Red® Kit has been optimised for the direct detection of heparins in human plasma. The assay actually measures “chemical” heparin concentrations in µg/mL, not the effect of heparin on the clotting cascade [1]. The Kit is emerging as a tool for pharmacokinetic studies of non-anticoagulant heparins [2], a promising class of drug candidates, and has also been reported to detect other sulphated polysaccharides.

  • convenient mix-and-read fluorescence assay for microplates
  • direct detection of heparins in only 20 µL plasma
  • quantification in the low µg/mL range
  • detection of non-anticoagulant heparins and other sulfated polysaccharides
  • robust, protein-free reagents

Heparin Red® Ultra has been optimised for the fast and very convenient detection of heparins in complex matrices. The assay actually measures “chemical” heparin concentrations in µg/mL, not the effect of heparin on the clotting cascade. Heparin Red® Ultra was reported to suppress interference by nucleic acids and detect heparin in urine.

  • Very convenient mix-and-read fluorescene assay for microplates
  • direct detection of heparins in small sample volumes
  • quantification in the low µg/mL range
  • robust, protein-free reagents
